A wonderful nativity play

Our Room 4 senior friends directed a fine nativity play. They helped us to make the puppets. They coached us to be the narrators and they showed us how to operate the puppets. The play was so good that the audience needed a second showing. Take a bow senior friends and thank you so much!

Trip to Whare flat

What fun we had on our tramp today. It rained and rained and our feet got wet but what an adventure!  We climbed up through the bush until we found an old tunnel. Then we made our way back to the camp for a barbeque. After eating we played games and sang songs. We were very tired when we climbed back into the buses. And as usual Room 9 continued to shine all day. Well done super trampers!

Extra for Experts

Today Matthew and Zac shared their Extra for Experts research into dinosaurs. Matthew wondered why there are no dinosaurs still alive. He is going to find the answer to this and he will be able to tell you soon. Zac brought a dinosaur egg that will hatch in the classroom! I hope it will be friendly.

A fossil expedition

What a huge ammonite we saw at the museum. Imagine seeing this in the ocean!
We all went on a fossil hunt! We climbed on the bus and spent the day at the Otago Museum. What fun we had. We even made a Hollyosaurus fossil and a Calebosaurus fossil to bring back to Room 9 where we continue to shine!

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Real Fossils! Wow!

We looked at some real fossils.  We had so many questions.  I wonder where....?  I wonder why...? I wonder how....?  I wonder who.....?  I wonder what.....? Can you see the veins on the leaves children?

How do dinosaurs become fossils?

Today we talked about how we thought a fossil might form. To help us understand we sequenced a series of pictures that told the story. We can now all tell you how it happens. Watch us shine!

Magic Stitches

Every Tuesday lunchtime Emma goes to the Magic Stitches group with Mrs. Simpson. She has just finished this brilliant wall hanging. You are shining Emma!

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

If at first you don't succeed, try and try again

We all know how to make a circuit. Now we are having a technology challenge. What can we build with a circuit in it? I wonder what Macy is making.
